A veteran's life going on from the war can change drastically. PTSD is a major factor in this. Their past experience could come back to haunt them in the present day or future. Anything from flashbacks to hallucinations that traumatized that person could come back at any time to haunt them without the proper medication. This could affect a father's relationship with his kids because the kids might not see their father as the same person as before the war. Also, there isn't anything the father could do without medication so its a very sad thing to see but it happens all around us all the time.
